David’s 2012 Update

Overall I had a very up and down season and didn’t really hit my stride until the latter part of it.  I found it a real struggle to get into the right shape for the ETU Age Group Championships in April as it was so early in the season.  Training so hard in the winter months meant I ended up with quite a few colds and bugs which didn’t really give me any consistency to my training.  I also picked up a slight shoulder tear which could have meant pulling out of my early season A races but a number of ultrasound and physio therapy sessions with Aurelie and the team at TheTriTouch made a big difference and kept me on the start line.

After taking a short break to recover and get my body right my focus was to race well and finish strong at Strathclyde to Qualify for next nears ETU Champs as well racing well on The Alpine Challenge, a 3 day cycle stage race in the Alps.  I also raced at the Aix Le Bain Triathlon in France which was an amazing experience due to the toughness of the bike leg, brutal mass start and the 30 degree heat to contend with but was still the stand out race of the season for me.

Already I’m really looking forward to 2013 with key aims of qualifying and racing at the Age Group World Champions in London, completing my first full Ironman (Frankfurt) and hopefully getting closer to winning my first race or two!
