Richard’s 2012 update:

552321_10152193261710201_901586268_n-22012 has been an amazing year for British Sport, to be a very small part of it has been brilliant! Watching Alastair and Jonny Brownlee do so well in Hyde Park and being able to give an opinion on it was fantastic!

My year began in the cold with the Human Race Off Road Duathlon Series, minus seven on the start line of the TuffMan certainly made it live up to its name! Being crowned a MudMan, TuffMan, IceMan and a TrailMan set me up for a great season ahead.

In May I headed State side for the World Cross Triathlon Championships, it was a stunning place and an amazing course, whilst not very hilly it was very twisty and with my cornering and technical riding still needing work, a stellar day on the bike for me saw me only make two real mistakes and hold on for a second fifth place in this event, in 2013 I hope the podium awaits in Holland!

The British Super Series is the season long UK based road triathlon race series. It includes races from Super Sprint eliminator style to full Olympic distance. With a very wet start to the summer though, two races in the series were switched to duathlons. This did not help my cause, however, I managed to finish the series in third my best result since 2008 when I won and shows much improvement since being hit by a car in 2009. All the treatments at the hands of TheTriTouch therapists Aurelie (who travelled with our team to two South of France training camps and Auckland for The World Championships) and Helen have definitely helped this process!

My season climaxed with back to back World Championships in my best events Aquathlon and Biathle, both are run swim run events with the Aquathlon being longer than the super fast blink and you miss it Biathle! I hoped for two gold medals and finished with gold and silver, it was brilliant to maintain my unbeaten record at Biathle to take my tally to seven World Titles, but it is the Aquathlon where I won my first World Title that I will be focused on most in 2013. With the help of TheTriTouch team of therapists I hope to regain my title on home soil when the World Championships for Triathlon and Aquathlon comes to Hyde Park next summer.

Thank you TheTriTouch for all your help and support in 2012 bring on 2013!
