It’s been a year of under performing on an athletic front. A change in focus from my racing to that of the athletes I coach left me with less time and motivation to train, there were high points like a week long training camp in the Pyrenees, but I simply wasn’t prepared for the events I had entered. After pushing through two tough days at Ironman I decided it was time to take a time out, step back and be realistic about my goals.
While my fitness has suffered my athletes have gained and I’ve had some great results from those I coach, even taking one athlete from first Ironman to first World Championship in Kona; it’s been as rewarding as my own racing. But as the season comes to an end I’m finally putting my own training back together and refocusing on the marathon as my goal for next season – something more manageable as I try to guide others to Ironman success. I’m pleased to say that so far in 2013 my fitness is coming back.
In personal news, I relocated to Bristol and looking forwards to my wedding in 2013!
Congratulations Russ and Gillian! From everyone at TheTriTouch.
