January 2011: Attendance at the Beijing and Las Vegas World Triathlon Championships
Aurelie Almeida was selected to work with the British Triathlon team as part of the support crew for the World Championships. Aurelie has worked with British Triathlon since 2009, offering sports massage to GB athletes in Perth, Immerstadt, Edinburgh and Budapest.
Aurelie will attend the Sprint & Olympic Distance World Championships in Beijing in September, and the Long Distance World Championships in Nevada in November.
‘I love supporting these events. It’s a huge operation with so many athletes racing away from home. Every member of the support crew is essential to the success of the trip: team managers, bike mechanics, referees, marshals, sports therapists. We all work incredibly hard to make sure the athletes are well looked after, race well and bring back lots of medals for team GB. I can’t wait to catch up with friends and colleagues on the team. Many of my patients race for team GB and it’s a wonderful opportunity to support them all year round.’
