June 2011 All set for The London-Paris 2011
Six therapists from TheTriTouch massage crew are all set to looks after the 365 riders taking part in the The London-Paris.
The ‘L2P’, complete with rolling roads closure and Mavic support crew, starts on Thursday 23 June. Three days and 520K later, the riders will arrive in the centre of Paris, on closed roads, Tour de France style.
For the second year we are sending six sports therapists on site who will look after the riders morning, noon and night. The latest L2P newsletter explains the logistics of sports massage on this large-scale event.
We have already been looking after many of the riders, ride captains and crew taking part in L2P2011, including UK Youth’s Chief Executive Charlotte Hill while she trained from scratch for this challenge (having got on a bike for the first time on 29th January THIS YEAR!)
The Pearson Sportive in May was a good rehearsal of the event for the L2P riders and our massage crew.
Below is some information about our L2P therapists, you can see more details including how to contact them on our massage crew page. We will post updates during the trip on Twitter using #L2P2011 (@TheTriTouch)

Aurelie Almeida (Sigma Sport, Hampton Wick)
Aurelie moved to England from France in 1998 and brought her passion for sport along with her: from ballet to equestrian sports, running, swimming and cycling. She has a very good understanding and experience of looking after athletes both in terms of training and recovery. She works alongside medical professionals and is part of the support crew for the British Triathlon Team at the World Championships. Aurelie dedicates 100% of her time in making athletes feel and perform better. She travels regularly to world class events to provide her patients with a consistent level of care. She has managed the L2P sports massage crew since 2010.

Tierney Maude (Surrey & Middlesex)
Tierney is soon to graduate from St Mary’s University in Twickenham for her ITEC Level 4 Sports Massage qualification, following on from her undergraduate degree at Loughborough University in Sport and Exercise Science, where she specialised in Sports Nutrition and Exercise Physiology. Engaging in sport (swimming at national level) from a young age, Tierney is used to being dedicated and hard working. She possesses knowledge on the most buoyant wetsuit to the best compression gear, hence triathlon is what she lives and breathes. This is Tierney’s first year as part of the L2P massage crew.

Dan is no stranger to large sporting events having worked at the London Marathon and the Boutique Run and taken part in cycle challenges from London to Cambridge and London to Windsor for charity. This has added to her knowledge in the prevention and management of sports and activity related injuries. Elena has been part of TheTriTouch Massage Crew since 2010, working at the L2P and heading up the team at The Alpine Challenge. Elena is very active herself as she runs, kayaks, cycles and swims and she is also a PADI divemaster.
