Tour of Britain 2012 Sports Massage Support for Team IG Sigma Sport
TheTriTouch will provide sports massage support to Team IG Sigma Sport Pro Cycling during The Tour of Britain 2012.
Since 2004 The Tour of Britain has been attracting some of the world’s top teams and cyclists, coming to the UK to compete on British roads each September. Each year The Tour provides an exciting glimpse of international superstars, future champions and homegrown talent. The 2012 edition will include 8 stages over 1,349.9 kms from 9th until 16th September. You can view the introduction video online.
Sam Wattie, Sports Massage Therapist at TheTriTouch, will be looking after the riders alongside the team Soigneur Nick Wolfenden, to prepare them for racing and ensure optimum post race recovery. Sam has plenty of experience treating cyclists:
“I look forward to be working with Team IG Sigma Sport at such a crucial event and help the riders recover quicker to ensure they are in good form for the next day. This is my first Tour of Britain but I’m sure it will be worth every minute.”
Team IG Sigma Sport contains a mix of youth and experience. As they approach their third Tour of Britain, with their best yet chance of success it will be a tough choice to select the six riders to race. The team includes London 2012 Olympians Steven Burke (Team GB Gold in Team Pursuit) and Dan Craven (Team Namibia) as well as Tom Murray, Daniel Lloyd, Simon Richardson, Steve Lampier, Tom Last, Simon Gaywood, Wouter Sybrandy (who just finished second overall at the Tour of Jamtland), Jake Hales, Peter Hawkins and Andrew Griffith.
Becky Frewing, Team Manager, says: ”The team are delighted to have Sam onboard for this year’s Tour of Britain. Having experienced soigneurs on hand to treat the riders at the end of each stage, look after their nutrition and feeding is crucial to the team. A big thank you to TheTriTouch for supporting us”.
